how much fee did you get

Yashpal himself narrated the story of the fees for the film. He told that he had discussed the fees with Reen Dutta, the producer of Lagaan and Aamir Khan's wife at that time. He said, “The next day, I went to meet Reena Khan (then Aamir Khan's wife). She was one of the producers. On the way, I kept thinking about how much money I should ask him for the role.”

He said that I was from a poor family but I told myself not to settle for less than Rs 1 lakh. But I was also scared that they might take someone else. So I thought I should ask for Rs 50 thousand. I was ready to do the work even if they give me Rs 20,000.

However, when I reached her office, Reena ji told me that she does not have much budget, hence she is giving only Rs 1.5 lakh to everyone. On this I said no madam, please give me at least two lakhs. Don't know what happened at that time but she agreed. Yashpal said that later I was thinking that even if I had asked for Rs 5-10 lakh, perhaps she would have agreed.
