Ram Rahim is preparing to serve his parole period this time in Barnava Ashram of Baghpat district of UP. Ram Rahim is facing a serious allegation of allegedly raping two of his female followers. Ram Rahim's parole is also being linked to the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections to be held in Haryana this year.
What is the allegation against Ram Rahim
In 2017, Ram Rahim was sentenced to 20 years in prison for allegedly raping two female followers. In the year 2019, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his employee Ranjit Singh. Apart from this, in 2021, the Dera chief was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a journalist. These allegations are quite serious but despite this Ram Rahim gets parole every time. This case is quite high profile because many people still do not consider Ram Rahim guilty and at the same time he is considered to have a good influence in the politics of Haryana.
Had come out on parole earlier also
Only last year, Ram Rahim Singh was given parole on paper on three occasions while behind the bars in Sunaria jail of Rohtak district of Haryana, in which the parole was for 91 days. He was released for 21 days in November, 30 days in July and 40 days in January to attend the birth anniversary of former Dera chief Shah Satnam. Apart from this, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Chief Shah Satnam, a photo of Ram Rahim celebrating by cutting the birthday cake with a sword was also shared, after which many questions were raised on the Haryana government.
What is the parole process?
Let us tell you that parole is not a right, it is given to the prisoner for a specific reason such as the death of a loved one in the family or the marriage of a close relative. In this, a prisoner can also be refused parole if the competent authority is satisfied that releasing the convict is not in the interest of the society. Apart from this, a prisoner gets parole for only 70 days in a year.
