Banks will remain closed across the country for three consecutive days from Friday to Sunday. Due to local holiday in some states on Thursday, bank holiday is going to be for 4 days. However, in some states banks will remain closed on 23rd January i.e. even today.

This week banks are going to remain closed not for one or three but for four consecutive days. Banks will remain closed across the country for three consecutive days from Friday to Sunday.

Due to local holiday in some states on Thursday, bank holiday is going to be for 4 days. However, in some states banks will remain closed on 23rd January i.e. even today. This means that Wednesday is the only day when banks will not remain closed in any state of the country. However, in January 2024, a total of 16 holidays have been allotted to banks including second, fourth Saturday, Sunday and regional holidays.

25 January (Thursday) Thai Poosam/Birthday of Mohammad Hazrat Ali- Banks are closed in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh.

26 January (Friday) – Banks are closed across the country on the occasion of Republic Day.

Banks closed for 3 consecutive days in the country

Republic Day, which falls on Friday this year, is the only national holiday. After that, 27th will be the fourth Saturday of the month and all the banks in that country will remain closed. Banks remain closed on Sundays. In such a situation, banks will remain closed for three consecutive days in the country. By the way, the long weekend will start from January 25 itself. For example, due to local holidays in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, banks are going to remain closed for four consecutive days.

Bank holiday on 22nd January

In an order issued by the Finance Ministry on January 18, public sector banks and regional rural banks were asked to observe half-day holiday on January 22 for the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. According to the RBI holiday calendar, banks remained closed in Imphal, Kanpur, Lucknow and Panaji on Monday, January 22 due to the consecration ceremony of Lord Shri Ram in the temple built at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Complex/Imoinu Iratpa. Bank branches of private banks in Uttar Pradesh remained closed on January 22, 2024 (Monday). HDFC Bank and Axis Bank also remained closed in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. HDFC Bank remained closed throughout the day in UP and Uttarakhand, while Axis Bank remained closed throughout the day in Uttar Pradesh.
