This year the festival of Sakat Chauth will be celebrated tomorrow i.e. on 29 January 2024. It is believed that if Lord Shri Ganesha is worshiped and fasted as per the rituals on the day of Sakat Chauth, then Ganpati ji removes all the troubles of life and fulfills all the wishes.

Sakat Chauth 2024: Chaturthi date of Krishna Paksha of Magh month is celebrated as Sakat Chauth. This year the festival of Sakat Chauth will be celebrated on 29 January 2024. The festival of Sakat Chauth is also known by different names, like Sankashti Chaturthi, Tilkuta Chauth, Maghi Chauth, Til Chauth etc.

The fast of Sakat Chauth is considered very important. On this day, there is mainly a ritual of worshiping Lord Ganesha and fasting, but along with Lord Ganesha, Shiva family and Moon God are also worshiped on this day. It is believed that by observing Sakat Chauth fast with full faith and devotion, one gets relief from all troubles, wishes are fulfilled and children get well-being. Sakat Chauth fast is also observed for the long life and healthy life of children. 

Auspicious time of Sakat Chauth

Chaturthi Tithi will start at 06:10 am on 29 January 2024 and will continue till 08:55 am on 30 January 2024. Therefore, the festival of Sakat Chauth will be celebrated on 29 January 2024.

Moonrise time

Moonrise will occur on January 29, 2024 at 08:52 pm. The time of moonrise will also be different at different places.

To please Lord Ganesha, worship in this way

Astrologer Pandit Rakesh Pandey tells that on the day of Sakat Chauth, wake up before sunrise and take bath after daily activities. After bathing, wear clean and washed clothes and resolve to observe the fast. Mainly Lord Ganesha is worshiped on Sakat Chauth, at some places people also worship Shiva family. First of all, spread a red cloth on a clean platform and install the idol of Lord Ganesha or Shiva family on it. Then offer tilak, incense, lamp, fruits, flowers etc. to Lord Ganesha. Worship them and perform aarti.

After this offer water to Sun God. And keep a waterless fast the whole day. During evening puja, read or listen to the story of Lord Ganesha and then perform aarti. Keep laddus or tilkut made of sesame and jaggery in the offering to Lord Ganesha. Pray to Lord Ganesha. After moonrise, offer water to the moon. Along with water, offer fruits, flowers, roli or sandalwood and rice to the moon. After the end of the puja, distribute Tilkut Prasad to all the members of the house and break the fast.
