Amitabh Bachchan was a younger actor than Dharmendra, that's why he died in Sholay, big statement from the director

Veteran director Rohit Shetty says that in the cult classic film Sholay, Amitabh Bachchan was a lesser hero than Dharmendra, which is why his character dies in the film. He said that in that era, only small heroes used to die in films. He also told that Amitabh did not have a single solo role in Sholay.

Great music, strong action, and top actors and directors. All these things were present in the film Sholay. Yet when a film is released, people do not appreciate it for the first four days. Makers get nervous. There are doubts about one's own decisions. Then the matter reaches to the point that this film will be shot again. But on the fifth day itself, the fortunes of the film and the characters associated with it change. And Sholay becomes the most successful film in the history of the country.

This is not a story. Something similar happened during the release of Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra's film Sholay. This incident has been narrated by none other than veteran stuntman MB Shetty's son and director Rohit Shetty in a recent interview. During this, he also mentioned that Amitabh Bachchan died in Sholay because he was considered a lesser artist than Dharmendra at that time.

Talking about Sholay, Rohit Shetty says, “Sholay was released, but it did not run for the first four days. Then the makers decided to shoot it again. Someone said that Gabbar Singh's voice is not right, someone said that you should improve Amitabh Bachchan's character because he has become a big star at the time of its release. If you watch the film again, you will find that Amitabh Bachchan's character is that of a man's friend. Amit (Amitabh Bachchan) ji had taken the role to new heights with his performance. If we look at that period, we will see that the heroine was a widow and Amit ji was not even given a song.”

'There was not even a solo scene'

Rohit Shetty said, “Amit ji did not have a single solo scene in the film, there was only one scene with his aunt. Every scene was with Dharmendra ji. But Amit ji's performance was good and by then Deewaar and Zanjeer had also been released. At this time, only small heroes used to die and Amit ji was a small hero in the film compared to Dharmendra. That's why he died and not Dharmendra ji. But after four days the film started running and ran for the next four and a half years.”
