The key to the inheritance of millions of Indians is locked in this government portal, this is the complete process to open it.

Data revealed in Parliament on December 19 showed that the total unclaimed deposits with banks in the financial year 2023 is Rs 42,270 crore, which is 28 percent more than last year's figures.
A major part of this amount (i.e., Rs 36,185 crore) is with public sector banks, while the remaining Rs 6,087 crore is with private sector banks. Depositors whose money is linked to one or more financial institutions in the form of unclaimed deposits can check the same on RBI's UDGAM (Unclaimed Deposit Gateway to Access Information) portal.

How does a deposit become unclaimed?

First of all it should be understood how a deposit becomes unclaimed. As per Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rules, any savings or current account balance which has not been operated for 10 years, and FD which has crossed the maturity date more than 10 years ago, is considered unclaimed. The amount is considered. Now the question is arising that how will we know about those unclaimed funds? So the simple answer is that it can be found out with the help of Udgam portal.

What is origin portal?

Udgam Portal is a website where depositors can view information related to their unclaimed deposits. It was created in collaboration with Reserve Bank Information Technology Private Limited (ReBIT), Indian Finance Technology and Associated Services (IFTAS) and partner institutions. Initially, details of 7 banks were uploaded on this portal, then on September 28, 2023, it was expanded to 30 banks.

This is how you will get information

1. First of all you have to log in to the website.

2. Now you have to register on the portal. The registration process requires depositor details such as mobile number, first name, last name, password and captcha.

3. After entering these details you will be required to tick the two boxes below agreeing to the Disclaimer and Privacy Policy as well as declaring that the use of the portal is for legitimate purposes.

4. Once the registration process is complete, you can log in with the details given above and search for unclaimed deposits in any of the 30 banks whose details are collected in this portal. Has gone.
