Rituraj Gaikwad created history, became the fastest Indian batsman to score 4,000 runs in T20.



Indian opener Ruturaj Gaikwad made a big achievement in the fourth match of the 5-match T20 International series being played against Australia. Gaikwad has become the fastest Indian to complete 4,000 runs in men's T20 cricket. He has defeated KL Rahul. When he came to play at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur, he needed only 7 runs to touch this figure. 

Gaikwad completed his 4,000 T20 runs in just 116 innings, making him the fastest Indian batsman to achieve the feat. This dashing opening batsman has left behind KL Rahul, who had made the record of achieving this feat in 117 T20 innings. Virat Kohli is the third fastest Indian to achieve this feat in 138 T20 innings.

Chris Gayle is the fastest player to reach this milestone in just 107 innings. After that comes Shaun Marsh (113) and Pakistan batsman Babar Azam (115). Gaikwad has also become the joint fourth fastest player to achieve this feat. He shares his record with Devon Conway of New Zealand. 

In the fourth T20 International match against Australia, Gaikwad played an inning of 32 runs with the help of 3 fours and a six, facing 28 balls. Gaikwad now has 4,025 runs in T20 cricket. 

Batting first, India posted a score of 174 runs on the scoreboard after losing 9 wickets in 20 overs. For India, Rinku Singh scored 46(29), Yashasvi Jaiswal 37(28), Jitesh Sharma 35(19) and Rituraj Gaikwad scored 32(28). Fast bowler Ben Dwarshuis got the maximum 3 wickets from Australia. Jason Behrendorff and Tanveer Sangha took 2-2 wickets. Aaron Hardy was successful in taking one wicket.
