Pakistan: PTI gets new president of the party, Gohar Ali will take charge in place of Imran Khan

Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has been elected as the new president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party in place of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Following the orders of the Election Commission of Pakistan, elections were held within the party. To maintain transparency in voting, voting was done through an online app. Gauhar Khan was nominated for this top post by Imran Khan himself.

Along with Gauhar Khan, other officials have also been elected in the elections. Omar Ayub Khan has been elected as the General Secretary of the party, while Yasmin Rashid has become the President of PTI Punjab. Haleem Adil Sheikh became the party president of Sindh Province, and Ali Amin Gandapur was elected as the party president of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

Will take up the post again in future

It is noteworthy that the disqualification of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is involved in the Toshakhana case, can also be cancelled. But it is expected that he will return as party president in the future. However, these elections have faced challenges within the party as PTI's founding member Akbar S. Babar has decided to challenge the results as per the orders of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

'Ready to fight with anyone' Gauhar Ali Khan, who became the new chairman, said that he will continue to fulfill this responsibility as the representative of Imran Khan. He has expressed his commitment to take the country forward. Gauhar said, “I will hold this post as the representative of Imran Khan. PTI is ready to fight anyone”.

At the same time, opposing this decision, Akbar S. Babar, one of the founders of PTI, said that he will go to the Election Commission against this decision of this party.
