There are many people in the world who resort to plastic surgery to make their face as well as their entire body attractive. Many times this decision proves to be right for many people, but for many people it also becomes a problem. You must have heard about many such cases, when people's faces became bad after surgery. Something similar happened with a person living in Birmingham city of England. To correct his swollen cheeks, he underwent such a terrible surgery that because of it he was unable to close his eyes for almost four years.
The name of the person is Pete Broadhurst . He is a retired painter and decorator. Pete told that he wanted to correct his puffy 'hamster cheeks' so that his self-confidence would increase and for this he resorted to cosmetic surgery, but it all went horribly wrong. Because of this surgery, he was unable to close his eyes for more than four years. Pete said, 'What happened has completely destroyed my life. I have invested my entire pension to get my eyes corrected.
The woman had left him because of her swollen cheeks.
According to the Mirror report, 81-year-old Pete's problems began in 1959, when his cheeks grew larger due to dental problems. He told, 'My hamster's cheeks were swollen. Many years ago I was in a relationship with a woman and she was leaving me. I asked her that when we have everything then why are you leaving? Look how lucky we are. To this she said, 'Go and look at yourself in the mirror first, that's why I am leaving'. After this, he got into two more relationships and faced similar problems there too. So he decided to undergo surgery to correct his cheeks.
Surgery worth Rs 11 lakh worsened the condition.
In the year 2018, Pete contacted a hospital in Birmingham, who asked him to undergo neck lift, blepharoplasty and rhinoplasty under the eyes and told that the entire procedure would cost around Rs 11 lakh. He told that this surgery will help in reducing his cheeks. Then what, after much deliberation, Pete got the surgery done on January 24, 2019. It took about 9 hours. He was discharged from the hospital the next day after the surgery, but then he started having problems with his eyes. His eyes were burning a lot and were also watering. The doctors told that everything was fine, these side effects would go away on their own after some time, but it did not happen.
Eyes did not close completely
According to reports, Pete went to Good Hope Hospital in Birmingham on March 23, 2019 for his regular prostate checkup, when the doctor there noticed his damaged eyes and referred him to Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre. There he was told that when he blinked or slept, his eyes did not close completely, which caused him irritation. Later he also got a surgery done for this, but there was no benefit. After years of wandering like this, finally in July 2023, Pete went to Origin Clinic in Thailand to get his eyes corrected. The doctors performed surgery there. Now Pete has completely recovered and sleeps peacefully by closing his eyes comfortably.
