Scientists discover 160 million years old strange fish, called 'vampire' of water

Scientists in China have discovered two new species of lamprey fish from fossils believed to be 160 million years old, which used to suck the blood of their prey and also eat the flesh.

It is difficult to even guess what could be hidden under the earth and in the depths of the sea. In such a situation, sometimes during the search some strange things are found and it is very surprising. Something similar has happened recently in China. Here scientists have discovered two new species of lamprey from fossils believed to be 160 million years old i.e. 160 million years old. Lamprey is a type of fish which does not have jaws and looks like a current-producing eel.

Lamprey fish are also called parasitic creatures, because they catch their prey and suck its blood. For this reason they are also called 'vampires' of water. According to media reports, the two species of lamprey that have been discovered in China were not only sucking the blood of their prey, but were also removing its flesh to eat. It is being told that his grip was so strong that it could even break the skeleton of the victim. Scientists say that her teeth indicate that she may also eat meat.

These strange fossils have been found in China

According to reports, fossils of these two new species of lamprey have been discovered from a fossil site in northern China. The largest fossil in it is about 23 inches long. Scientists have named it Yanliaomyzon occisor, which means 'killer'. At the same time, the length of the small fossil is about 11 inches and it has been named Yanliaomyzon ingensdentes.

Now, since lamprey fishes have been present on earth for millions of years, when dinosaurs lived on earth, it is believed that these fishes must have drank their blood too.

According to scientists, the oldest preserved lamprey fossils are from the Paleozoic era, about 360 million years old. These fossils show that early lampreys were quite small, measuring about one inch in length. It is also revealed that he neither drank blood nor ate meat.
