On October 6, 1927, the world's first talking film 'The Jazz Singer' was released in New York City, United States of America. Before this, the films made did not have sound. The film kept running and according to the scene, the artists present behind the curtain would provide music and voices.

The Jazz Singer became the first film which had a story, music and also dialogues between the actors. There was coordination between all these.

5 lakh dollars were spent

The story of the film is inspired by Samson Raphaelson's 1922 short story. Story: It was produced by Warner Brothers. Al Jolson is in the lead role. The film is one hour 29 minutes long. At that time, five lakh dollars were spent on the production of the film. It did almost eight times the turnover, breaking all the records of earnings.

Producer Warner Bros. could not hear the thunderous applause at the film's premiere. While the film was being shot, Warner Brothers contracted pneumonia. Later one of them, Sam, was diagnosed with a brain infection and just a day before the premiere, Sam Warner said goodbye to the world.

In this way no member of the family could witness this historic moment. The world had not seen a talking cinema before. The movie kept playing on the screen. There was neither music nor dialogue in it. The process of gradual improvement in different fields which started then, continues in cinema even today. Today Hollywood films have a strong influence on the entire world. Because the way technology has been used by Hollywood, the world has followed it.

'The Jazz Singer' was a musical drama film. It was directed by Alan Crosland. Since it was the first talking film, everyone was both excited and scared at the same time. There was only one question in my mind, what would happen if I don't get success? This team itself replied, even if we do not get success, we will learn something new. It is in this spirit that the film was not only completed but also lived up to its expectations.

The Jewish youth who runs away from home

The story of the film 'The Jazz Singer' is woven around a Jewish youth. He runs away from home to become an entertainer against his father's wishes. Later he becomes very famous as a jazz singer. This story seems to be like that of today's ordinary Hindi films but the contribution made by this first feature film to the world of cinema is unique. The form of this film was the result of hard work that lasted for about 30 years, where music, dialogues and films, everything was going together.

In the year 1896, several dozen devices were introduced to produce sound and music simultaneously but failed. Gradually the experiments continued and success continued. Only then could 'The Jazz Singer' get the status of the first talking film. There was only two minutes of dialogue in this entire film. This was a hit film of that time. Also won many awards.

This film also ended the careers of many old actors because they were senior but were not able to accept the changing nature of cinema. The new generation has taken over cinema and today is going through tremendous experimentation with films.

The character displayed American-African culture

Jolson, the main character of this film, is seen in black face in the film. Through this he showcases American-African people and culture. This blackface makes him special in the film. People get emotionally attached. This was also a great example of apartheid. The same film was remade in 1980. Neil Diamond was in the lead role. At that time, Warner Brothers had decided that whenever a new cinema hall was opened, the first show would be 'The Jazz Singer'. It is almost like the Indian film actor is seen playing the role of Joker in Mera Naam Joker.

Jazz is a musical style, which is still very popular in America and other parts of the world. It is found to have started in America at the end of the 19th century. At the same time, India's first talking film was Alam Ara, which was released before the audience on 14 March 1931. Ardeshir Irani was the director of this film.
