Conference tourism is an industry worth Rs 25 lakh crore, this is how it is rejuvenating India

India has recently got two big convention centers 'Bharat Mandapam' and 'Yasho Bhoomi'. Of these, on the occasion of the inauguration of Yasho Bhoomi, PM Narendra Modi mentioned 'Conference Tourism', which is an industry worth Rs 25 lakh crore globally, and now the government is rejuvenating the country to increase India's share in it.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the country's largest convention center 'Yasho Bhoomi'. Just a few weeks before this, the country got 'Bharat Mandapam', which was the main center of a big event like the G20 summit. When PM Modi dedicated 'Yasho Bhoomi' to the nation, he talked about 'conference tourism'. Do you know that the worldwide 'conference tourism' industry is worth Rs 25 lakh crore. At present India's share in this is only one percent. In such a situation, the government is now planning to increase India's participation in this industry by rejuvenating the country.

'Conference tourism' means whenever people travel from one country to another for an official meeting, big corporate event, business or trade related exhibition etc. Like G20, Geneva Motor Show, World Economic Forum meeting etc. The host country benefits from this in many ways.

This is how India is rejuvenating

Earlier, only the name of Vigyan Bhawan used to come up for big government meetings in the country. But now 'Bharat Mandapam' and 'Yasho Bhoomi' are ready inside Delhi itself. Both these convention centers are so big that they are included among the top convention centers of the world. PM Modi has also called upon different stakeholders of the world to use these convention centers for their events.

Apart from this, Mahatma Temple in Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat and the convention center being built in Gift City is also important. The government has not stopped here, India's largest exhibition venue Pragati Maidan is being transformed. The state-of-the-art India Expo is already present in Greater Noida adjacent to Delhi. Whereas there is also a proposal to develop such projects near the newly built Jewar Airport. In this way, India is preparing to capture a major share of this 'conference tourism'.

These sectors benefit from 'conference tourism'

PM Narendra Modi said in his inauguration at that time that even Indian companies have to go abroad to organize their big investments, but now it is easy to do so in India itself. 'Conference tourism' will generate employment for lakhs of people.

Anyway, 'conference tourism' benefits many sectors simultaneously. First of all, the hospitality sector, because people come to India from abroad, stay in hotels, eat in restaurants. All this generates new business. Apart from this, aviation and logistics partners also benefit. At the same time, it also promotes local tourism which creates employment for people in the unorganized sector.
