3rd ODI: On the strength of batsmen and bowlers, South Africa defeated Australia by 111 runs

 


With the help of excellent performance by the batsmen and bowlers, South Africa defeated Australia by 111 runs in the third match of the 5-match ODI series. With this victory, South Africa has kept itself alive in the series. Australia has a 2-1 lead in the series. In the match played at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom, Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first. 

For South Africa, the maximum runs came from the bat of Aiden Markram. He scored an unbeaten century of 102 runs with the help of 9 fours and 4 sixes in 74 balls. He completed his century by hitting a four on the last ball of the 50th over. Quinton de Kock scored 82(77) and captain Temba Bavuma scored half-century of 57(62). Both of them made a partnership of 146 (137) runs for the first wicket. Marco Yansen played an inning of 32 runs in 16 balls with the help of 4 fours and one six. Markram and Yansen made a partnership of 63 (31). Travis Head took maximum 2 wickets for Australia. Nathan Ellis, Tanveer Sangha and Marcus Stoinis added one wicket each to their account. 

Chasing the target, the entire Australian team was bundled out for 227 in 34.3 overs. David Warner scored the most runs for Australia. He scored a half-century of 78 runs in 56 balls with the help of 10 fours and 3 sixes. Apart from him, Travis Head played an inning of 38 runs in 24 balls with the help of 6 fours and one six. 

Both of them gave a good start to the team by making a partnership of 79 (48) runs for the first wicket. Captain Mitchell Marsh contributed 29 runs in 26 balls with the help of 4 fours and one six. Gerald Coetzee took the maximum 4 wickets for South Africa. Keshav Maharaj and Tabrez Shamsi took 2-2 wickets. One wicket went to Sisanda Magala.
