Knight Riders got the first red card in CPL 2023, Dwayne Bravo had to pay the price; View VIDEO

Red card was used for the first time in the CPL 2023 match played between SKN Patriots and Trinbago Knight Riders.

Red Card In Cricket, CPL 2023: Have you ever seen red card being used in the game of cricket. If not, then you should have watched the 12th match of CPL 2023 which was played between SKN Patriots and Trinbago Knight Riders at Warner Park. Yes, for the first time in this cricket match, the umpire used the red card, which greatly benefited the batting team and Knight Riders bowler Dwayne Bravo had to bear the brunt of it.

In fact, before the start of the 20th over of SKN Patriots' innings, the umpire gave a red card to the bowling team i.e. Trinbago Knight Riders. This is because the bowling team was guilty of slow over rate. In such a situation, the Knight Riders led by Kieron Pollard now had to field with 10 players, not 11, in the last over. Pollard sends Sunil Narine out. Dwayne Bravo was doing this over of the team and he had to bear the brunt of the lack of a fielder on the field.

In this over, Sherfane Rutherford, the batsman of the opposition team, hit Bravo with four brilliant shots one after the other. Rutherford hit 3 fours and a six, on the basis of which his team got full 18 runs from the last over. Significantly, Pollard was not at all happy with the red card rule being used in CPL, on which he openly expressed his views after the match.

Talking about this match, then SKN Patriots had scored 178 runs in 20 overs, in response to which Knight Riders team scored 180 runs in 17.1 overs and won by 6 wickets.

What are the red card rules of CPL 2023?

If the fielding team is behind the required over-rate at the start of the 18th over, there will be five players inside the 30-yard circle.

If the fielding team is behind the required over-rate at the start of the 19th over, there will be six players inside the 30-yard circle.

If the fielding team is behind the required over-rate at the start of the 20th over, then there will be only 10 players on the field and six players inside the 30-yard circle.

Red cards can also be used on the batting team. If the match is slowed down because of the batting team, then they will first get a warning and then a five-run penalty can also be imposed on them.
