Asia Cup 2023: Former Australian veteran gave a big reaction on Tilak Verma's selection, told courageous and visionary step

Former Australia player Tom Moody has spoken a lot about the selection of Tilak Verma in the Indian Cricket Team in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. Moody's described Verma's selection as a wonderful decision and also lauded the team management for their vision and bold move.

Making his debut in the T20I series against the West Indies, Verma caught everyone's attention with his performance. He scored a total of 173 runs in five matches and was also the highest run-scorer for India in the series. However, in the ongoing Ireland series, he got out cheaply in the first two matches.

Tilak Verma Rising Star - Tom Moody

Speaking to Star Sports, Moody justified Tilak Verma's selection and said, "I think it is a wonderful selection. I would call it brave, but at the same time I would also call it smart. He is clearly a rising player as I said earlier. He not only has the skills but tremendous temperament and he is showing it on a regular basis. We have talked about the importance of the left hander in the top order, so he is sure to come in at number five or six. This will be valuable for India, especially to maintain balance against spin.

Let us tell you that Asia Cup will be the debut tournament for Tilak Verma in his ODI career, he has never played international ODI cricket before. On the other hand, if we talk about the Asia Cup team, the BCCI has announced an 18-member squad for the tournament, which is going to start on August 30, in which KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah are returning, while Sanju Samson Has been kept in this team as a reserve player.

India's first match in the Asia Cup will be against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2 at Pallekele, Sri Lanka.
