Blood Donation: Blood donation has an important role in saving lives . A person injured in an accident, a major surgery or a patient of a disease like blood cancer needs blood, but according to the demand of blood in hospitals, the donation is very less. The main reason for this is that there is a lot of wrong information among people about blood donation. For this reason people avoid donating blood.

1. Donating blood causes weakness?

This does not happen. Recovery is complete in a day or two. Blood donation is really good for health.

2. Is blood donation painful?

The needles used for blood donation have a very fine bay weld point. There is no pain during donation, only a slight pain may be felt during needle insertion.

3.Can the donor get infections like HIV, and COVID during donation?

New bags are used along with the same needles as those used for blood donation and blood is drawn following infection control techniques. In this case, there is no risk of any infection.

4. Donor can give blood only once in a year

Men can donate complete blood every 3 months and women every 4 months. It is wrong to think that blood can be donated only once a year.

5. Donating blood weakens the immunity

As soon as you finish donating, the body starts replenishing the blood. It has been proved that the immune system of a person does not decrease after blood donation.

6. People taking any kind of medicine cannot give blood

This is partially true. It is not recommended to donate blood only for some people who are using only some medicines. However, in most of the cases, medicines do not stop one from donating blood.
