PM Modi US Visit: PM Modi will create history in US as well, will become the first Prime Minister to address the US Parliament twice

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going on a tour of America. During this, he is also going to address the US Parliament. He will address the US Parliament for the second time.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to address the US Parliament on 22 June. PM Modi will jointly address both the Houses of the US Parliament - the Senate and the House of Representatives. This is the first time that a Prime Minister is going to address the US Parliament twice. PM Narendra Modi has addressed the US Parliament earlier also. The relationship between America and India has become very strong in the last few years. Both countries have come closer in the field from defense to trade.

In fact, supported by the bipartisan leadership of both the House and the Senate, US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the US Congress. The Prime Minister is going on a tour of America. He is also going to visit the White House on 22 June. His visit will be from 21 to 24 June. In fact, the Prime Minister has visited America on several occasions before. But this is the first time when he is going to America on a state tour.

Who went on a state visit last?

This is the first time in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tenure of 9 years, when he is going on a state tour of America. The last state visit of an Indian Prime Minister to America was in 2009, when the then Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached America on a 3-day tour. Although PM Modi has visited America several times during his tenure, none of his visits was considered as a state visit. A state visit is the highest level visit under diplomatic protocol.

On which issue will PM Modi talk?

The invitation sent to PM Modi was also signed by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. The Prime Minister will address lawmakers in the US Parliament on his vision for the future of India and the global issues being faced by the US-India.

Prime Minister Modi last addressed both the Houses of the Congress in 2016. Before him, Manmohan Singh, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, PV Narasimha Rao, Rajiv Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru addressed the US Parliament.
