PM Modi on UNSC Membership: Consider the membership of the Security Council, ask the world about India; PM Modi spoke before America tour

Regarding the permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council, India says that being the world's largest democracy, it should be included in it. Now just before the US tour, PM Modi has once again reiterated his point.

India has been raising voice for the reform of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for many years. India says that being the largest democratic country in the world, it should be made a permanent member of the Security Council. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has also expressed the country's desire on this issue many times. Before leaving for America on Tuesday, he reiterated his point once again.

In an interview to the Wall Street Journal before leaving for the US, PM Modi said that the current membership of the United Nations Security Council should be evaluated. The countries of the world should be asked whether they want to see India there? Let us tell you that there are currently five permanent members in the Security Council, which include America, Britain, China, France and Russia. Apart from this, there are 10 non-permanent members in which India is also included.

On the other hand, just before PM Modi's US tour, United Nations General Assembly President Saba Korosi has said that a country like India is needed in the Security Council. He said that there is a perception of the member states that there is a need for better representatives in the Council. It includes those countries which have a great responsibility for peace and welfare of the people and certainly India believes that they can contribute to the welfare of the world.

'PM Modi's meeting had a deep impact'

He further said, I had a meeting with PM Modi a few months ago. His vision and strategic thinking was visible during the meeting. His meeting had a deep impact on me. He is most welcome at the United Nations. He is one of the most respected leaders of the world to come here in a very short span of time. Let us tell you that on the US tour, PM Modi will visit the United Nations Headquarters on the occasion of International Yoga Day on June 21.

Bilateral meeting with Joe Biden

PM Modi's four-day tour will start from June 21. PM Modi will have a private and bilateral meeting with Joe Biden while staying in America for four days.
