BJP-Akali Dal may have an alliance before the Lok Sabha elections, this leader hinted

The BJP and the Akali Dal were old allies. After the farmer's movement, when there was displeasure between the two, the Akali Dal left the BJP. Now it seems that both the old friends can be together again.

The central government brought an ordinance regarding agricultural laws. After this the farmers protested. The movement went on for a year. The government came on the backfoot. PM Modi himself announced the withdrawal of all the three bills. But by then the years-old alliance between the BJP and the Akali Dal in Punjab broke down. After this, when the assembly elections were held, the BJP and the Akali Dal suffered losses. Not only this, the Aam Aadmi Party also won the Jalandhar Lok Sabha elections. Now it seems that in 2024 both can be united again. We are not saying this, but it is being felt from the words of Gurcharan Singh Grewal, senior leader of Akali Dal and general secretary of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.

For the past several days, there is discussion in the political circles of Punjab that before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) may unite again. Senior Akali Dal leader and General Secretary of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Gurcharan Singh Grewal himself indicated this in an interview to news agency ANI. Let us tell you that this alliance was broken when the Akali Dal raised its voice in favor of the farmers protesting against the agricultural laws.

Both suffered loss after separation

Ever since this alliance broke down in the state, neither BJP nor Akali Dal has got any major success in Punjab politics. Breaking ties with the BJP, the Akali Dal formed an alliance with the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP), but both did not get any major success as expected, rather the losses became more than before. When Gurcharan Singh Grewal was asked a question on the issue of reunification of both the parties, he said that nothing is impossible in politics. Grewal said that the Shiromani Akali Dal stood with the BJP when its only ally was the Shiv Sena.

Akali Dal among old allies of NDA

Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee led the NDA government along with all his allies. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not consult these partners while taking major decisions. Due to which the displeasure increased and there was a chance of breaking the alliance. Grewal further said that under pressure BJP has withdrawn all the three agricultural laws but still there are some important issues which are yet to be resolved. In these issues, apart from separate Gurdwara Management Committee in Haryana, many other issues are yet to be discussed even after the Sikh prisoners in jails of the country have completed their sentence.

Will you be able to forget all the grievances

Significantly, after the death of Prakash Singh Badal in the past, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda had come to share their grief with Badal's family. After which the discussion of alliance increased further. Speculations were rife that the two parties could revive their years-old alliance. Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal was specially present on the occasion of the inauguration of the new Parliament, despite opposition from all opposition parties. Which fueled this discussion even more. Now it will be very interesting to see whether these two old allies will once again forget their grievances and unite before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
