Assam: India will build tunnel under Brahmaputra river, army will be able to reach LAC at speed

With the construction of the tunnel, the traffic on NH37 will reduce and people will start getting comfortable. Troops can be taken through the tunnel to Arunachal Pradesh bordering China and goods can be transferred rapidly. Due to this, national security will be increased.

To counter China's trickery, India is engaged in rapid development of LAC area. The central government has now cleared the way for building a strategic tunnel under the Brahmaputra to rapidly move troops to the LAC . Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma says that technical bids will be opened on July 4 to prepare the Detail Project Report (DPR) for the proposed 35 km long corridor between Gohpur and Numaligarh.

CM Sarma says that road and train track will be laid through different tunnels. Rs 6,000 crore will be spent on the project of this tunnel. PM Narendra Modi has already given approval for this. With God's grace, the construction work can be started while our chief minister is there. The distance from Numaligarh to Gohpur is about 220 kms and it takes about 6 hours. With the construction of the tunnel, this distance will be reduced by 33 km. Along with this, half an hour time will also be saved.

With the construction of the tunnel, the traffic on NH37 will reduce and people will start getting comfortable. At present, the traffic from north to south of Brahmaputra is being moved through the Kolia Bhomora bridge, about 100 km from the proposed tunnel. The crown of the tunnel will be about 32 meters below the lowest ground level of the Brahmaputra river. The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation has done the studies for this tunnel through an expert consultant, Lewis Berger.

National security will increase with this tunnel

Once the project is completed, the existing traffic on NH37 located south of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve will be relieved. Troops can be taken through the tunnel to Arunachal Pradesh bordering China and goods can be transferred rapidly. Due to this, national security will be increased. At present, the central government's focus is on development in the border area. This is the reason why BRO is creating new records by constructing roads in the most difficult areas.
