Indian-origin woman has been promoted by the New York Police Department (NYPD). She has been made captain, only after that she has become the first woman from South Asia to achieve this position.

New York . Captain Pratima Bhullar Maldonado is an Indian-origin female officer who has recently been promoted to the post of Captain by the New York Police . After promotion, she has become the highest ranking South Asian woman . Quoting the CBS report, this news is coming out that he was given promotion only last month. Pratima has 4 children, despite this, seeing her dedication towards work, she has been given this post. She was born in Punjab and has lived here till the age of 9. After that she moved to Queens, New York.

Maldonado said that the promotion is like a homecoming for him, as he has given 25 years of his career to it. Actually many Sikh families live in South Richmond Hill. She said that when she was a child, she used to go to the local gurudwara here, now she will also go to the same gurudwara as a captain. He is very happy just thinking about this. His new role will help in community policing.

He said that there is a language barrier in this area because most of the people here consider English as a second language. Maldonado is the first South Asian woman in the New York Police Department to reach this position. It has been told in the report that his promotion has been given because of his ability because this captain is a very responsible post. Maldonado said that this is a huge responsibility for him.

She further said that she wants to give a better and positive example to the public through this post. She'll do it for the kids she sees every day, the women she's around, her community. Maldonado said that she is proud of this success and that she gives a message to women who have come from South Asian countries. He said that if she works with hard work and dedication, she can climb the ladder of success here too.
