Supreme Court angry on Calcutta High Court judge's interview, seeks answer before Friday

The judge of the Calcutta High Court had given an interview to a media house. The Supreme Court has expressed displeasure in this matter. Also asked to file the reply before Friday. If the Supreme Court does not find the answer satisfactory, then further action can be taken.

Many cases were heard in the Supreme Court today. One of these cases was of the Calcutta High Court. In fact, a judge of the Calcutta High Court had given an interview to a media house. Due to this, the Supreme Court has expressed displeasure. A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on the petition of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee against the order of the Calcutta High Court. Abhishek Banerjee has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the High Court's order for investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the School for Job case.

Abhishek Banerjee's lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi told the court how the judge gave an interview to the media house through a sitting judge. Expressing displeasure, the Chief Justice said that the judges should not speak in those matters which are pending for hearing before him. Judges should not be involved in such matters at all.

Supreme Court asked for answer

The Supreme Court has directed the Registrar General of the Calcutta High Court to personally verify with Justice Gangopadhyay whether he had given any interview to a media house. The SC has also directed that the Registrar General of the High Court should file an affidavit in this matter before Friday. The next hearing regarding the matter has been fixed on Friday. The CJI said that the question is whether judges can be allowed to participate in the matter while giving interviews?

Affidavit will have to be filed before Friday

The Supreme Court has made strict remarks in this matter. He said that no judge should comment on such a case, whose hearing is pending. The Supreme Court has asked the Calcutta High Court Registrar to file an affidavit. Answer has been sought from them. The affidavit will have to be filed before Friday itself.
