WPL 2023: UP Warriors blow away Royal Challengers Bangalore, fourth consecutive defeat of Smriti Mandhana's team

In the eighth match of WPL 2023, UP Warriors defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB-W vs UP-W) by 10 wickets. Batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 138 runs in 19.3 overs losing all their wickets, in reply UP Warriors registered a big win by scoring 139/0 in just 13 overs. This is UP's second win in the tournament, while it is RCB's fourth straight defeat and they are yet to win.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Royal Challengers Bangalore got the first blow in the fourth over. Out-of-form skipper Smriti Mandhana once again disappointed as she was dismissed for 29 after scoring just 4 runs. Sophie Devine and Ellyse Perry took the score to 73 from here. Devine played an inning of 36 runs. Kanika Ahuja returned to the pavilion after scoring 8 runs, while Heather Knight was run out on a personal score of 2. Shreyanka Patil was dismissed for 116 after scoring 15 runs. Perry batted well and scored 52 runs while scoring a half-century. Erin Burns scored 12 runs. Richa Ghosh was run out on personal score of 1 run. The lower-order batsmen could not last long and the entire team collapsed with three balls to spare. Sophie Ecclestone took four wickets and Deepti Sharma took three wickets for UP Warriors.

Chasing the target, UP started with a bang. The opening pair of captain Alyssa Healy and Devika Vaidya scored 55 runs in the powerplay itself. Healy completely took the front himself and took the news of RCB bowlers fiercely. Both the batsmen added 139 runs in 78 balls to give their team a thumping victory. Healy could not complete his century and remained unbeaten on 96 runs. Devika also remained unbeaten after scoring 36 runs.
