Iceberg as big as London found, fear of hitting the ship… Threat to wildlife too!

Britain News: The scientists who have discovered this iceberg say that its size is equal to that of London. This iceberg can pose a threat to shipping and wide life.

Iceberg News: British scientists have found the world's two largest icebergs , one of which is as big as London. And the other iceberg is even bigger. The great thing is that these icebergs are moving towards areas where they can affect shipping, fishing and wildlife. Scientists fear that they may collide with the Iceberg Ship as well.

According to the BBC report, these frozen icebergs of the size of the city have separated from Antarctica. Scientists say that it may take decades for them to melt and dry. Now scientists are keeping an eye on them. An iceberg named A81 is the size of London. At the same time, the name of the second one is A76a, which is even bigger.

It took us 24 hours just to go around it – researchers

A group of researchers photographed the iceberg, named A81, while it was flying from Heli Base in the UK for weather. Talking about the second iceberg, Professor Geraint Tarling told that it was on our way. It took us 24 hours just to go around it. At some places we came very close. It was actually a nice sight. Going near it, we collected water using special non-contaminating pipes. We have a lot of samples to study it.

Iceberg moving towards South Georgia

The report claimed that the A76a iceberg originated from the Filner-Roane Ice Shelf in May 2021 and is now moving towards South Georgia. Dr Mark Belchior, Director of Fisheries and the Environment, says that fisheries increase during the winter months, so this could impact Iberg's operations. "If it breaks down in winter, the problem is likely to subside as most of the animals can then find food," he said.
