'Steps to persecute Muslims'

MP from Dhubri, Assam, Ajmal said, 'Our Chief Minister sometimes suddenly dreams that it's been a long time since I didn't persecute Muslims. So he wakes up from his sleep… and starts planning with which schemes he can persecute the Muslims.

Many women gheraoed the police stations at many places and demanded the immediate release of their husbands and sons who were arrested by the police. During this, he also tried to stop the police vehicle, in which the arrested people were being taken to the court.

We do not have the means of income. Another such woman says, 'I have married my choice. I demand the police and administration to release my husband immediately.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Saturday that so far 4074 cases related to child marriage have been registered in Assam, while 8134 people have been identified as accused. Out of these, 2211 people have been arrested till this morning. He told reporters that this campaign started across the state from Friday morning will continue for the next three to four days.

Explain that the Assam government recently decided that those who marry girls below the age of 14 years will be booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and those who marry girls aged 14-18 years. A case will be registered against the perpetrators under the Prevention of Child Marriage Act, 2006. Such people will be arrested and the marriage will be declared invalid.
