The day of Mahashivratri is considered very auspicious for worshiping Mahadev. It is believed that on this day, whoever worships Bholenath with true devotion and devotion, all their wishes are fulfilled. According to the Panchang, the festival of Mahashivaratri is celebrated on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month. This year this date is falling on Saturday, February 18, 2023. On this special day, people offer fruits, flowers, belpatra etc. to the Shivling to worship Lord Shiva. Out of this, Belpatra offered during worship has great religious importance. The belpatra offered on the Shivling should always be offered upside down. That is, the side where the belpatra has a smooth surface, that part should be offered on the Shivling. Always keep this thing in mind that offer Belpatra with the help of ring finger, thumb and middle finger.

Some things must be kept in mind even while plucking belpatra from the tree. Keep in mind that never break the whole branch of the belpatra tree at once. Rather break the belpatra one by one. Apart from this, before and after breaking the belpatra, bow down in your mind.

For some reason, if you do not have much belpatra, then you can wash only one belpatra and offer it again. Means, if any member of your family has offered belt leaves on Shivling, you can wash them twice and offer them. Keep in mind that before offering Belpatra, water must be offered.

While preparing for the worship of Mahashivaratri, keep in mind that the belpatra you keep should not be torn or cut from anywhere. It is believed that by doing this you can get inauspicious results.

If possible, wash the belpatra before offering it and write Ram's name or Om Namah Shivay on it with sandalwood. It is believed that by doing this, Lord Shiva gets pleased quickly and gives blessings.
