The construction work for Noida International Airport (NIA) is going on in full swing. This state of the art airport will be operational for the people by October 2024. This airport will be built in four phases over the course of a few decades. The fourth phase of the expressway will be ready by the year 2050. However, the tentative date for the construction of Phase 1 of Noida International Airport has been kept till October next year. Crores of people will come to the airport every year.
Planned to be operational by early next year
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had recently said that the Noida International Airport would be operational by the beginning of next year. However, as per the agreement between the government and Zurich AG, they will deliver the airport by September 29, 2024. Zurich AG is building the airport, which will be the country's largest when fully operational in the next few years.
Yogi Adityanath says that the government is trying to start at least two runways to make the airport operational. The airport is jointly owned by the Government of UP, Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority and Yamuna Authority. Tata Projects Limited has got the engineering and construction contract for Jewar Airport.
will have to pay a heavy fine
As per the agreement, Zurich AG will pay Rs 10 lakh per day if it is not delivered to the airport on time. The Times of India report states that if the project is delayed, they will start paying the fine from 30 September 2024.
Many big features will be present in Noida Airport. A luxury hotel of about 220 rooms will be built near it. Apart from this, a mall is also to be constructed near the airport. Authorities and the government are trying to develop the area around Noida airport as an economic powerhouse. Metro line will also be constructed to connect Noida International Airport with IGI Airport.
