Brand Story The woman entrepreneur behind the success of LimeRoad is Shuchi Mukherjee. It is one of the popular social shopping sites for women in India. In just a decade, the company has taken a big leap in the business.

E-commerce is growing rapidly in India. Its growth rate has been estimated at around 30 percent. The reason for this growth is that today everyone wants to order goods online at their doorstep. The craze for ordering goods online has increased. And it is considered convenient as well as beneficial. This is the reason why many online shopping companies have opened and grown in recent years.

Online marketplaces of different sectors are emerging rapidly in India. These online market places are also dominating the traditional Indian market. Seeing the changing trends of customers in the country, Shuchi Mukherjee laid the foundation of his online company. Named LimeRoad , it is one of the popular social shopping sites for women in India.

Company started in 2012

Shuchi Mukherjee founded this online company in the year 2012. Ankush Mehra and Prashant Malik supported him in setting up the company. Although Prashant Malik is no longer with the company, Ankush Mehra is still with Limeroad. Mehra is now the co-founder and director of its parent company.

Where did the inspiration come from?

The startup story of Limeroad is very inspiring. Then his age was 39 years. The second child was born. One day Shuchi was flipping through a magazine, when she saw a very attractive piece of jewellery. But those jewelery were in a very small store in Mumbai, so they could not reach him soon. It was with this realization that he conceived Limeroad.

Neha Dhupia also joined

Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia has also worked as an art director with Limeroad. Dhupia was signed by Limeroad in May 2014. Limeroad's investors include Matrix Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Tiger Global. Limeroad was valued at around Rs 838.5 crore after the funding round in October 2019.

Mission and Achievements

Shuchi Mukherjee aims to create the biggest marketplace for women in South East Asia. In view of the boom in business and strategy to attract consumers, he was honored with various awards. By the end of the year 2017, Limeroad claimed to have grown by 150% and successfully secured the second position in the online fashion sector.

Education and Career

Shuchi Mukherjee belongs to a middle class family of Haryana. She was a brilliant student from the beginning. After studying at St. Stephen's College, Delhi, he enrolled in Cambridge University, from where he obtained a bachelor's degree in economics with mathematics. Shuchi then joined The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), from where he obtained an MSc degree in Finance and Economics. He is also a British Chevening Scholar.

Shuchi initially worked at Lehman Brothers Inc. from July 1998 to June 2003. She then joined Virgin Media, where Shuchi became the Director of Change and Business Development and worked for 2 years. She was a member of the firm's consumer division management team. Under his leadership, the company earned revenue of $2.5 billion. He worked there from June 2003 to May 2005.
