700 schools are going to be locked in Haryana. These schools were being run without recognition. Because of them the future of the children was in danger. The Haryana government had given temporary affiliation to 700 unrecognized private schools earlier this month. But now it has been decided to close them. The thing to note here is that there are a total of 1,338 private schools which are being run without any valid recognition from the government. These schools have been given time to follow the rules.
The Directorate of School Education (DSE) issued a notification that 700 schools will not be allowed to admit any new students from the next academic session. The list of these schools will be uploaded by the education department as a warning on its website, so that parents can be helped to avoid enrolling their children in these schools.
Schools that get certification will operate
A senior official of the department said, “The government gave enough time and relaxation to these schools to comply with the rules and apply for recognition. Schools that have obtained certification from the government can operate. But the schools which have failed to do so will not be given more chances.
Officials said the schools were given time to comply with the rules, as many students studying in these schools were appearing for board exams. He said that we had given temporary recognition because we did not want to jeopardize the future of board students of these schools. Around 700 out of 1,338 schools did not follow the instructions. Now the roads have been closed for them.
The issue of permanent recognition has been going on for years. Every year during the commencement of the academic session, the education department issues a warning to these schools asking them to apply for permanent recognition. But only a few of them follow the rules. The schools argued that they could not fulfill only the two main norms of space and land, due to which they were ordered to be closed.
