President Draupadi Murmu recently laid the foundation stone of 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project during his visit to Rajasthan. The project is being operated by SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a subsidiary of SJVN Limited. The project is being developed on 5000 acres of land near Banderwala village in Bikaner district of Rajasthan, which is one of the highest sun availability areas in the country.
The cost of the project is Rs 5492 crore. The assistance of Rs 44.72 lakh per MW for the project is being provided by the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA). The project is proposed to be commissioned by March 2024. The commissioning of the project will help the Government of India to achieve its renewable energy target of 500 GW by 2030.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs of the Central Government has approved the 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project in Himachal Pradesh by SJVN Limited at an estimated cost of Rs 2,614.51 crore. An investment of Rs 13.80 crore has also been approved as budgetary support by the Government of India to enable the infrastructure under this project.
Keeping in view the goals and objectives of Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, the establishment of 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Power by SJVN Ltd. will benefit local suppliers, local enterprises, MSMEs and ensure socio-economic development by promoting employment and entrepreneurship . The implementation of this project will generate direct and indirect employment for about 4000 people during its construction.

The central government is developing border villages with limited connectivity and infrastructure to secure the international border with neighboring countries. The ministry also clarified that 176 sewage infrastructure projects have been approved to develop a disposal capacity of 5,000 crore liters per day in the Ganga basin and to construct a sewerage network of 5,000 kilometers.
