A female professor from Punjab has accused a senior official of the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi of sexual harassment . The woman says that when she went to the embassy to apply for a visa to visit Pakistan in 2021 , some senior officials misbehaved with her. The woman is a senior professor at a university in Punjab and is also the head of a department.
The woman claims that she had booked an appointment for visa application at the Pakistan High Commission to go to Lahore. A staff member started asking vulgar questions to the woman during the interview which made her uncomfortable. Like they were asked why not married, how do I live without marriage? What do I do for sexual desire?
First of all she was asked why she wanted to go to Lahore, so she told the officer that I want to go to Lahore to take photographs of monuments and write on them and also want to go to a university where I have been called to give a lecture . After this, when she was about to leave, another employee came and allegedly started asking her personal questions, which made her uncomfortable.
The woman professor claimed that she tried to change the topic, yet the officer persisted with her questions. The woman complained about this to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and also sent a screenshot of her WhatsApp chat with the High Commission official to the Ministry of External Affairs.
The victim said that finally they said that I cannot be given a visa and I should try again later, as they will do verification about me. The woman also claims that she was asked to write against the Government of India and offered money for the same, which she refused to accept. She also said that she was asked whether she supports Khalistan?
