Stampede on T-Bridge in Cuttack during Makar Sankranti fair, 4 feared dead, 25 injured

A stampede broke out at the Makar Sankranti fair in Odisha . Because of which the news of 4 people being killed and at least 25 people being seriously injured is coming out. The matter is being told of the Badamba-Gopinathpur T Bridge in Cuttack district. This T bridge connects the Singhnath temple on both sides. A fair is organized here every year on Makar Sankranti. According to the local media, about 2 lakh devotees had gathered here even today. There is also a possibility of some children being injured during the stampede. Some people panicked and jumped from the bridge during the stampede. At present, only primary information has come to the fore in the matter.

Cuttack Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani has not yet confirmed the death of anyone in the case. On the other hand, Athagarh Deputy Collector Hemant Kumar Swain has told that on Saturday afternoon, about 2 lakh people gathered here to attend the fair. A large number of children and women were involved in these. Along with the fair, they gathered here to worship Lord Singhnath.

Those injured in the fair were immediately admitted to the Community Health Center (CHC) of Badamba. Later some people have been shifted to SCB Medical College in Cuttack. 3 platoons have been deployed to maintain law and order on the spot. Significantly, Makar Mela is organized every year near the temple on the banks of Mahanadi. Hundreds of devotees coming from Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh and Nayagarh districts throng the temple during the fair.
