A baby girl was born to Noor Hussain and Rashida Begum in Shahdara Sharif village of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir. It was named Rukhsana Kausar. Rukhsana means bright. The brightness of Rukhsana was seen in the year 2009, when Rukhsana turned 20 years old.
That night of 27 September 2009…
On 27 September 2009, Rukhsana was at home with her parents and brother. There is a forest adjacent to his village, where terrorists used to visit in search of food or shelter. It was around 9.30 in the night. Three terrorists knocked on Noor Hussain's door and asked him to stay there. But Rukhsana's father did not allow the terrorists to enter the house. Hearing the refusal, the terrorists started killing Rukhsana's father.
All this was not seen by Rukhsana and then Rukhsana came out in anger and picked up the ax lying nearby and cut the throat of terrorist Abu Isama, due to which he died. Not only this, Rukhsana also snatched the gun of the terrorist and opened fire. Seeing Rukhsana in this avatar, the rest of the terrorists ran away. Earlier on July 24, Rukhsana and her aunt Kuljum Pari were abducted by Aijaz Sameer and some fellow terrorists, but later released.
Terrorists wanted to take revenge from Rukhsana
About a month after the incident, unknown people attacked Rukhsana's house at around 10.30 pm with a grenade and also fired several rounds. Although no family member was harmed in this incident, because by then the government had shifted the family to the High Security Police Colony.
On 25 January 2010, on the eve of Republic Day, Rukhsana and her brother Ejaz were awarded the Kirti Chakra for their bravery. He received many awards like National Brewery Award, Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, Sardar Patel Award, Rani Jhansi Brewery Award. For the safety of Rukhsana's family, a special police post was set up at her house. He also requested the Central Government to settle in Delhi.
I want daughters to live in a more secure world – Rukhsana
At present, Rukhsana Kausar is a constable in Rajouri only. She married Kabir Hussain in the year 2013. Her husband is also a sub-inspector in Rajouri. Both have three daughters - Misbah, Sabah and Sumaira. Rukhsana says that 'I have faced many challenges in my life and hope that my daughters live in a more secure world. I want to make them a responsible citizen by educating them.
Now a film is also being made on the story of Rukhsana Kausar. In this, Shraddha Kapoor will play the character of Rukhsana. If everything goes well, this will be Shraddha's second film, which will be based on a real story. Earlier, she has played the role of Haseena Parkar, sister of underworld Dawood Ibrahim.
