do's and don'ts

  1. Before worshiping, clean the place of worship or temple thoroughly. Make Rangoli and Charan Paduka near the main entrance of the house. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi is pleased with this.
  2. While worshiping, keep in mind that the idol of Lakshmi ji should always be kept on the right side of Ganesh ji. Along with Ganesh-Lakshmi, worship of Goddess Saraswati, Kuber Devta, Maa Kali's picture or idol is also considered auspicious.
  3. One should neither borrow nor lend money to anyone on the day of Diwali. All types of money transactions should be done two days before Diwali.
  4. One should not sweep or throw garbage outside the house even after forgetting on the night of Diwali. It is believed that doing so brings poverty in the house.
  5. People often fall asleep during the day or evening due to exhaustion on the day of Diwali. It is believed that with this your luck also sleeps. You can take rest but sleeping is inauspicious.
  6. As a celebration, people consume intoxicants on this day, which is considered absolutely inauspicious. Due to this, Mother Lakshmi gets angry and you gradually start getting surrounded by financial crisis.
  7. If a saint or a beggar comes to ask for alms on this festival, he should not be returned empty handed. According to his ability, donating food and drink to him is considered auspicious.
