West Indies vs Australia, 5th T20I: West Indies beat Australia by 16 runs in the fifth T20 match played at St Lucia (Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia) on 16 July. With this, hosts West Indies have won Sri Lanka 4-1. After losing all three matches of the series, Australia won the fourth match. Now a three-match ODI series is to be played between July 20-24 between the two teams.
Batting first after winning the toss, West Indies scored 199 for eight in 20 overs with the help of four fours and nine sixes by Evin Lewis. Apart from Lewis, Nicholas Pooran contributed 31, Chris Gayle 21, Lendl Simmons 21 and Andre Fletcher contributed 12 runs.
Tie took three wickets for the opposition team, while Adam Zampa and Marsh got two wickets each and Sweepson got a breakthrough.
Chasing the target, Australia's team could only score 183 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. For Australia, captain Aaron Finch scored 34, Mitchell Marsh 30, Matthew Wade 26, Moises Henriques 21 and Andrew Tye scored 15, while Mitchell Sweepson 14 and Josh Hazlewood remained unbeaten on 13. Sheldon Cottrell and Andre Russell took three wickets each for the hosts while Hayden Walsh got one wicket.
