Noted filmmaker Kumar Ramsay, who wrote scripts for most of the horror films of the Ramsay Brothers, died of a heart attack on Thursday.
Kumar Ramsay was 85 years old. Kumar's elder son Gopal told PTI that Kumar breathed his last at his residence in Hiranandani in Mumbai. Kumar is survived by his wife Sheela and three sons Raj, Gopal and Sunil.

Gopal said, 'He died of a heart attack at 5.30 am today. He left us all and left. The last rites will be performed at around 12 o'clock. We are waiting for the priest to come.

Please tell that Kumar was the son of filmmaker F U Ramsay and the eldest of seven brothers. The Ramsay brothers included Keshu, Tulsi, Karan, Shyam, Gangu and Arjun who dominated the production of horror films. He used to make low budget cult films in the 70s and 80s.

Kumar was instrumental in writing scripts for most of the Ramsay Brothers' films, including 'Purana Mandir' (1984), 'Saya' and 'Khoj' (1989). The lead role in 'Saya' was played by Shatrughan Sinha and the hit 1989 film 'Khoj' had actors Rishi Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah in lead roles. He appeared in 1979's 'Who Else?' And also produced films like 'Dashat' in 1981.
