The story behind the temple is very interesting

It is said that there used to be a monster called Kulant in this area. He used to use his power to take the form of a snake. One day he sat down near Mathan village by hitting a horoscope in the Beas river. Due to which the flow of the river stopped. According to beliefs, he wanted all animals to die by drowning in this water. However, Mahadev became enraged by this act of the monster. After this, Lord Shiva changed his form and went to the snake and said that his tail was on fire. As soon as that monster looked towards the tail, Bholenath struck the head of the Kulant and killed him. It is said that the giant giant of the monster turned into a mountain. It is also said in the story that Lord Shiva told Indra that in 12 years, he should drop electricity there so that money is not lost. Since then, every 12 years there is a fierce lightning strike. But, what is the truth of this, nobody could understand till today.
