Young batsman Priyam Garg has been named the captain of the Uttar Pradesh team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament starting January 10. Suresh Raina and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have also found a place in the 15-member team. Interestingly, Suresh Raina made his international debut for India when Priyam Garg was 5 years old. Now is the chance to become the captain of childhood hero Raina. Being from Raina and future seniors he will get to learn a lot.
Announcing the squad for the under-19 team , the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) said the team is for the opening two matches. Priyam was part of India's under-19 team. Who made it to the World Cup final. Priyam made his IPL debut this year with Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, he could not give a good performance. He scored 133 runs in 14 matches at an average of 14.77.

Bhubaneswar also played in the IPL but he was injured after playing four matches. So Raina retired from international cricket on 15 August. He did not even play in the IPL. Akashdeep Nath captained the team last season. He has replaced Raina. Uttar Pradesh is placed in Group-A along with Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Punjab, Railways and Tripura. The group matches will be played in Bangalore.
