Patiala police on Tuesday arrested Punjabi singer and lyricist Shri Barar on charges of promoting violence and gun culture in a song uploaded on social media. Mr. Barar wrote the song for the new music album 'Jaan' and it also includes Barbie Mann. The song was viewed by 13 million people a month on YouTube. Mr Barar's arrest comes at a time when dozens of singers have come out in support of farmers and are writing songs for them. Earlier, singer-actor Diljit Dosanj, who reached the Indus border, donated Rs 1 crore to farmers for warm clothes.

Some time ago, playback singer Guru Randhawa was arrested by the Mumbai police. Guru Randhawa, Suzain Khan and Suresh Raina were partying at a club in Mumbai. Thirty-four people, including the three celebs, were arrested for violating Corona guidelines. However, he was later granted bail.
