 Proud news for every Indian. The national flag of India was hoisted once again in the United Nations Security Council. Indeed, India began its two-year term as a non-permanent member in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Monday, 4 January. A special event was organized at the United Nations headquarters in New York City on the occasion. During this ceremony, India's tricolor hoisted at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. 

On this occasion, India's permanent representative in the United Nations, T.S. "This is a proud moment for my country and for my delegation." He said that India is the largest democracy representing the sixth part of humanity in the Security Council. India is committed to multilateralism, the rule of law, a fair and just international system and peace, security and development. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, we stand together for democracy, pluralism and commitment to fundamental rights. Referring to the speech given by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi at UNGA last year, he said, India will be a voice for developing countries.

Actually, every member of the Security Council is appointed for a month, which is decided according to the name of the English alphabet of the countries. Kazakhstan's tradition of flagging began in 2018. India will be a temporary member of the Security Council from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2022. India's role on the global stage is constantly increasing, this will also increase India's strength. 

India's two-year tenure as a non-permanent member in the United Nations Security Council begins at a time when there are many challenges on the global stage, including international security, peacekeeping. At the same time, the demand for comprehensive reforms in international institutions is increasing due to Corona epidemic around the world.

Let us tell you that India will preside over UNSC in August 2021 and again in 2022. The UNSC is chaired by each member for a month. Apart from India, Ireland, Kenya, Mexico and Norway joined UNSC as non-permanent members. These countries will be part of this council with temporary members Estonia, Niger, St. Vincent and Granada, Tunisia, Vietnam and five permanent members China, France, Russia, Britain and the United States.
