This is the story of a typical Indian middle class family. Everybody gathers after the death of its leader. This is followed by some moments of laughter and some serious issues. You will also learn about the importance of a joint family through the film.
What is the story of the film?
Ramprasad Bhargava (Naseeruddin Shah), the head of the Bhargava family, dies suddenly. Ramprasad's entire family then gathers at his old bungalow. Where his wife Savitri (Supriya Pathak) lives alone. There are many quarrels between Ramprasad's 6 children, his family and many relatives. Later the whole family gets into trouble when they find out that Ramprasad had a huge debt that also needs to be repaid. You have to watch the movie to know what happens after that.
Film Review
The film stars Ramprasad's son Manoj Pahwa, Ninad Kamat, Vinay Pathak and Parambrat Chatterjee in the lead roles. They have all played their role very well. This is Seema Pahawa's first film as a director but she has made it look very real and has managed to show the spirit of a middle class Indian family. However, somewhere the boundary writing has not been so effective that the story and many scenes do not make you emotional.
Other actors in the film Konkona Sen Sharma, Supriya Pathak, Vikrant Messi have also played their characters very well. If all is said and done, the story is good and full of talented stars. The film manages to entertain as well as inform.
