IPL 2025: Rohit Sharma's fifty and Trent Boult's amazing performance helped Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets, reach third place in the points table

 


Match Highlights: In the 41st match of IPL 2025 played at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets. Batting first, Hyderabad (SRH) scored 143 runs on the basis of the partnership of Heinrich Klaasen and Abhinav Manohar. In reply, Mumbai achieved the target with 26 balls to spare due to Rohit Sharma's half-century and Suryakumar Yadav's explosive batting. This was Mumbai's fourth consecutive and fifth win in the season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad lost the toss and batted first and scored 143 runs. Hyderabad had a very bad start in the powerplay and the team lost four wickets for just 24 runs. Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar bowled brilliantly for Mumbai and gave early blows. Travis Head (0), Ishan Kishan (1), Abhishek Sharma (8) and Nitish Reddy (2) returned to the pavilion early.

After this, Heinrich Klaasen and impact player Abhinav Manohar took over the innings. Both added 99 runs for the sixth wicket. Klaasen scored 71 runs in 44 balls which included 9 fours and 2 sixes, while Abhinav Manohar played an important innings of 43 runs in 37 balls. Mumbai bowlers made a comeback in the last overs and restricted Sunrisers to 143 runs. Trent Boult bowled brilliantly and took 4 wickets, Deepak Chahar took 2 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya also got 1-1 success.

Mumbai Indians started off well while chasing the target. Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma came to open. However, in the second over, Jaydev Unadkat gave Sunrisers their first breakthrough by dismissing Rickelton (11 runs). Mumbai's score after the powerplay was 56/1.

After this, Will Jacks and Rohit took the innings forward. In the 10th over, Zeeshan Ansari gave Hyderabad their second success by dismissing Will Jacks (22 runs). In the 11th over, Rohit Sharma completed his second consecutive fifty. He scored 70 runs in 46 balls which included 8 fours and 3 sixes. In the 15th over, Ishan Malinga gave Sunrisers their third success by dismissing Rohit.

However, Suryakumar Yadav batted explosively and scored an unbeaten 40 runs in 19 balls and hit a winning four in the 16th over to give the team a 7-wicket win. Along with him, Tilak Verma remained not out after scoring 2 runs.

With this win, Mumbai Indians have moved from 6th to 3rd position in the points table. Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, have suffered their sixth defeat in 8 matches this season and are currently in the 9th position.
