Assam News: A very shameful case has come to light from Guwahati, Assam, where a step-grandfather sold a one-year-old girl for Rs 5000 about 11 months ago, when she was just one month old. However, now the girl has been rescued by the police and two people have been arrested for their alleged involvement in this case. A senior official gave this information on Tuesday.
The grandfather had taken the girl on the pretext of getting her treated
Guwahati Police Deputy Commissioner (East) Mrinal Deka told the media that two accused have been arrested for selling and buying the girl for Rs 5000. It is being told that the minor girl was bought by a person from the village itself. The police have rescued the girl safely. He told that a complaint was received yesterday from the mother of the girl living in an area near Khel Village, in which the girl's mother said that on May 30 last year, the girl's step-grandfather took the girl away on the pretext of getting her treated. The girl's mother further said that the girl's father was not present at home at that time.
Police rescued the girl from Sonatali area of the district
Mrinal Deka said that after this the woman came to know that her one-month-old daughter was sold by her step-grandfather to someone for Rs 5,000. He said, "Accordingly, a case was registered at Basistha police station and investigation started in the case. During this, a police team rescued the girl from Sontali area of Kamrup district." The DCP said that the police have arrested the girl's step-grandfather and the buyer from the village.
