ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) has taken responsibility for the attack on the tomb of former Iranian general Qasim Sulemani. Nearly 200 Iranian people have lost their lives in the two bomb blasts on Wednesday. On the basis of information about the incident, the American had also said that ISIS could be behind this. Initially the needle of suspicion was pointing towards Israel. After which there was talk of increasing tension between Iran and Israel.
However, Iran is still blaming America and its defense ally Israel for this attack. Many organizations including the European Union had called this attack a terrorist attack. This is the biggest attack since the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979. ISIS's media wing Al Furqan has accepted responsibility. According to the information, both the attackers were brothers.
Religious places have been targeted before too
ISIS believes that people who believe in the Shia sect are infidels. Terrorist organizations have already targeted the pilgrimage and religious places of the Sia community in Iran. Although ISIS took responsibility, it did not give any details about the attack. Also, the details of the attack given by Iranian media are quite different from those of ISIS. Iran has not yet said anything on ISIS taking responsibility.
What has Iran said about the attack
Iran's Interior Minister has said that the gap between the attacks was very small. After the first attack, people were moving forward to save the lives of the injured and casualties. Just then the second attack occurred. Media reports say that the second bomb blast was more deadly than the first. This further destroyed the remaining scattered things.
