Having fever is very normal. But sometimes it can also be a sign of some serious disease. Therefore, it is important to be careful in case of fever. In case of fever, first of all give rest to your body. Then try to bring down the fever - drink more water, wear light clothes and try to keep the body cool and take medicine to reduce the fever. But many times the fever does not go away even after taking medicine. If the fever does not reduce in a day or two or goes above 103 degrees Fahrenheit, then a doctor should be contacted. Seeing your condition, the doctor will advise you to get the necessary tests done. 

Many times the fever is mild and resolves on its own. But sometimes fever can also be a sign of some serious problem, like malaria, typhoid, dengue etc. Generally, in case of fever, blood test and malaria test should be done. This can tell what is the cause of fever and how to treat it further. 

Some tests are mentioned here which you can get done. 

Blood Test – It checks for infection or any serious condition in the blood. This is the most important test. This shows that there is no infection in the blood. 

Malaria Test – This looks for the presence of malaria parasites. Malaria is tested with a drop of blood. If malaria parasite is found in the report, appropriate treatment can be started immediately. In this way, malaria test reveals the exact cause of fever and helps in timely recovery.

Dengue Test - Dengue virus infection is tested. If dengue virus is found in the report, one should immediately contact the doctor and start appropriate treatment. 

Widal test – used for bacterial infections like typhoid. 

Viral Fever Test – It is done for viral infections like dengue, chikungunya etc.
