Minister of State for Finance said this
Last year in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad said in a written reply that about 47.57 crore Jan Dhan accounts have been opened in the country till November 30, out of which 38.19 crore are current, while 10.79 lakh are duplicate. That is, lakhs of accounts have been opened wrongly. Action can be taken against those who have opened more than one account wrongly. In such a situation, it would be right to close those accounts in time.
