In a recent interview, he has given his reaction to the rumors that claimed that Dharmendra had refused to watch Baghban. It was being said that Dharmendra was jealous of Hema and Amitabh's romantic chemistry. He refused to watch the film itself. Speaking to Leharen Retro, Hema couldn't stop laughing at the news and said, "I don't know about it, I don't know about it." I signed this film because of my mother.
He said, I remember when I was narrating the story to Ravi Chopra, my mother was sitting after he left, I said, four are asking to play the role of mother of so many big boys, how can I do this but my Mother said, no, no, you have to do it! I said why?' No, the story is so good you have to do it. She was following me, I said, ok, I will do this. The role was very good, so finally I signed the film.
Directed by Ravi Chopra, Baghban starred Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini as an elderly couple who are separated in old age due to their children. The film also starred Salman Khan, Mahima Chaudhary, Aman Verma and Sameer Soni. This 2003 film gave Hema and Amitabh Bachchan a comeback on the big screen. The film proved to be a huge hit as it was made on an emotional subject.
