South Korea Flash Flood: 13 dead bodies removed from tunnel destroyed in flash flood, 39 dead so far

The South Korean Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain till Wednesday. In such a situation, there is a possibility of increasing the danger. Meanwhile, 13 bodies have been recovered from the flooded tunnel. Some people are still missing, whose search is on.

Dozens of people have been killed in flash floods after heavy rains in South Korea. 13 people died due to water filling in the tunnel alone. At least 20 small and big vehicles were stuck in this tunnel. Recently, after heavy rains in South Korea, the problem of flood and power cut has arisen. Several dead bodies were pulled out of a bus stuck in the Osong tunnel. On Friday, 9 people were rescued and saved. A total of 39 deaths have been confirmed.

Till Monday morning, it was found that 9 people are missing, whose search is on. The families of the victims say that if the authority had acted on time, lives could have been saved. There is news in some local media that the Flood Control Office had issued a warning on the water level before the accident. In such a situation, the traffic around the tunnel could be diverted. Most of the deaths have happened in the hilly areas. A large-scale landslide incident has come to light in Gyeongsang.

Army sent for rescue operation

300 mm (11.8 inches) of rain has been recorded in South Korea only on Saturday. Usually it rains 1000-1800 mm every year. Most of the rain occurs in the summer season. Thousands of people came under the grip of flash flood, who have been rescued. Army has been sent for rescue operation in flood affected areas. The villages around the dam have been affected more. The low lying area is filled with water. The entire area is submerged in water.

Heavy rain warning till wednesday

Slow train was also affected due to the landslide on Friday late night. Trains had to be stopped on many routes. Many bullet trains were cancelled. Routes of many have been changed. Passengers also had to face great difficulties. The Korean Meteorological Department estimates that the situation may remain bad this week as well. Heavy rain is forecast here till Wednesday. India, China and Japan have also been flooded after heavy rains. In India, the flood water entered even the capital Delhi.
