Saud Shakeel made a great record by scoring 208 runs, became the first cricketer of Pakistan to do so in Test



Pakistani batsman Saud Shakeel created history by scoring a brilliant double century in the first innings of the first Test against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium. Shakil, who came in to bat at number five, scored an unbeaten 208 off 361 balls with the help of 19 fours. This is Shakeel's first double century in this format.

Became the first Pakistani player to score a double century in Tests against Sri Lanka on his soil. Earlier, the record of playing the biggest Test innings for Pakistan in Sri Lanka was in the name of all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez. Hafeez scored an inning of 196 runs in the 2012 Test match played at the SSC Ground in Colombo. 

Shakeel is the 23rd batsman from Pakistan to score a double century in Test cricket.

Apart from this, Shakeel has become the highest run-scorer for Pakistan after 11 Test innings. After this innings, he has scored 788 runs. In this list, Shakeel broke the record of Abdulla Shafiq, who has 720 runs in his name. Javed Miandad is third in this list with 654 runs. 

Significantly, by the end of the third day's play, Sri Lanka had scored 14 runs in the second innings without any loss. Sri Lanka is currently 135 runs behind Pakistan. Nissan Maduska (8) and captain Dimuth Karunaratne (6) remained unbeaten till the end of the third day's play.

Pakistan's team came out to play ahead of 221 runs at the loss of 5 wickets on the third day. On the back of Saud Shakeel's first double century, Pakistan scored 461 runs in the first innings and took a huge lead of 149 runs. Apart from Shakeel, Agha Salman scored 83 runs in 113 balls for Pakistan.
