Ricky Ponting came out in support of Sarfaraz Khan, said – he should get a place in the team

 

Sarfaraz Khan has been performing well in first class cricket for some time now. However, still he is not getting a place in the Indian Test team. He was expected to be selected for the two-match Test series against the West Indies but was overlooked. Many former cricketers and experts had expressed their displeasure on this. Now former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has expressed his reaction supporting Sarfaraz. Ponting has worked with Sarfaraz in Delhi Capitals in IPL.

Former Australian captain Ponting said, "The one I regret a little bit is Sarfaraz Khan. The point is that he hasn't been included in the Test team yet, given that he averages in the 80s in first-class cricket." Which is absolutely unheard of, but for some reason, they keep picking other people before that."

Talking about the first class career of right-handed batsman Sarfaraz, he has played 38 matches and managed to add 3511 runs to his account with the help of an impressive average of 76.32. During this, 13 centuries and 9 half-centuries have been seen from his bat. Sarfaraz has recently flopped in the Duleep Trophy. 

Another young Indian batsman with whom Ponting has worked at Delhi Capitals and who is currently out of the Indian team is Prithvi Shaw. If I turn the clock back a few years, I would put Prithvi Shaw in that category as well. I still think he's capable of coming back like that, you know, if he wants to do it hard enough, I'm sure he can come back there because there's no doubting the talent he has. Not there."
